Lonely Two-Legged Puppy finds True Happiness When She Meets Her Perfect Match

IHOP and Waffles are like bacon and eggs, as close as two pancakes on a plate.

Her adoptive parents love IHOP being born without two legs.

However, her original parents wanted to euthanize her.

Duke and Steph didn’t hesitate to take in IHOP as she was born as the runt of her litter.

“Right off the bat, we knew IHOP had a huge personality. From the moment she played with the first little toy she was up on her hind legs throwing it around,” IHOP’s mom Steph told The Dodo.

IHOP is a vibrant doggo, both feisty and mouthy.

Despite adjusting well to her new foster home, IHOP is still figuring out how to get around on two legs.

Steph and Duke decided that IHOP would benefit from having another dog friend to show her the ropes.

IHOP was introduced to Millie, but they didn’t click. This made IHOP realize she was “a little different” from other dogs.

So, that didn’t work out. But then IHOP met Waffles.

Waffles, a Great Dane, was rescued at just 10 weeks old. She suffered an inoperable spinal injury that left her unable to use her legs. She also has two different colored eyes.

“The emergency vet we took her to advised us to take her home and give her a really good night before bringing her back in to cross her over. They said she had no quality of life to look forward to and caring for a paraplegic Great Dane was something just not feasible,” Steph and Duke’s Instagram page The Pawerful Rescue said.

Steph and Duke planned to care for Waffles until her quality of life declined.

“Then Waffles met IHOP. The two instantly bonded, and that was the first time we saw Waffles moving her legs. Once we saw that, it was game on!”

Though Waffles is much larger than IHOP, they became inseparable from the moment they met.

“It was almost like IHOP hugged Waffles,” Steph said. “It was like they were long-lost friends.”

IHOP and Waffles understood that they were both “in the same boat,” a little different but special. IHOP played a crucial role in enabling Waffles to move.

Waffles was scared when she first tried her wheelchair, but once IHOP joined her outside, she started to chase after her buddy and use the wheelchair properly.

Many people were interested in adopting IHOP, but Steph and Duke couldn’t bear to separate her from Waffles.

The couple firmly believes that IHOP and Waffles have improved each other’s quality of life and their own.

It has also enriched the couple’s life.

“We believe that things happen for a reason, and these two were brought together and into our lives for a reason.”
