Locked inside a wooden box, a Pit Bull named Diego has finally found a home with the woman who set him free. Struggling to escape his confined prison, Diego discovered that the entrance to his dog home had been sealed shut with nails, leaving him unable to break free.
Feleciana Ramirez was in Oklahoma City in late December when she received news of an animal trapped in a wooden box by the Oklahoma River. To her surprise, the animal was still alive.
Curiosity led Ramirez to open the box, and inside, she found a small wooden crate. It had been tightly sealed with a piece of wood, bolted and nailed shut.
“Armed with a utility axe, I smashed it open and saw that he was inside,” Ramirez told 9 News Oklahoma.
“I was startled to find something alive since he wasn’t making any noise or moaning.”
The wooden box had jagged nails protruding from its edges, evidence of Diego’s attempts to escape by eating and scratching his way out.
Ramirez realized the dog was starving and covered in cuts and bruises from being stuffed inside.
