The astonishing sight of a German Shepherd dog desperately clinging to the banks of Fairhaven Lake this morning (March 25) brought together a heroic group of rescuers. Lancashire Police, Lᴀɴᴄᴀsʜɪʀᴇ Fɪʀᴇ and Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ Service, and compassionate members of the public joined forces to save this courageous canine. Thankfully, the dog is now safe and sound, having been promptly handed over to the local RSPCA.
The Vᴇᴛᴇʀɪɴᴀʀʏ Health Centre is providing dedicated care for the dog, but first, the owner must step forward with proof of ownership. In the meantime, Lancashire Police is launching an intensive investigation around the lake to locate the owner. They urgently appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
