A dog with a massive salivary tumor is finally receiving medical attention after being neglected by its former owners for an astonishing six years.
The Long Way Home rescue organization claims that Jake’s previous family failed to take him to the vet when his face started to swell.
“The owners claim that Jake has had a salivary tumor for SIX YEARS. Initially, they thought he had been bitten by a snake. Despite his excellent manners, being housebroken, getting along with other dogs, and even knowing how to shake, he was raised as an indoor dog.” According to the organization.
Last week, Jake was discovered stumbling around in a remote part of Texas. Cribs for Canines embarked on a mission to convince his family to surrender ownership, enabling Jake to receive the necessary veterinarian treatment.
Jake is currently receiving treatment in Waco and has already experienced significant relief after the removal of a substantial amount of fluid, as per the organization’s statement.
We sincerely appreciate the outstanding staff at Texas Animal Medical Center in Waco, where Dr. Lide and his colleagues have been providing care for Jake. They have drained 1200cc of saliva from his throat. (See the remarkable difference it has made in the final two shots!)

Jake was able to move his head for the first time in 6 years. It was a rather simple accomplishment!
He appears to be in good overall health, with normal eating and urination patterns, and a positive demeanor.
While there are no guarantees of a complete recovery, dedicated individuals are working tirelessly to provide Jake with the best possible chance.
