When Zipper arrived at the shelter after being found wandering the streets as a stray, the staff was astounded by her uniqueness. She’s a canine with a jaw that is charmingly deformed, giving her the most delightful and one-of-a-kind grin. The individuality of Zipper’s smile has had no impact on her normal behavior, as she eats regularly and enjoys treats without any difficulties. Erin Webb, a volunteer with Huntsville Animal Services, remarked: “We are uncertain about the cause of the jaw abnormality. It remains a mystery to us. Zipper does have an underbite, and her teeth are spaced far apart.”
Based on her condition when she arrived at the shelter, it is likely that Zipper spent her entire life as an outdoor dog and did not receive proper care. She has suffered severe fur loss due to flea allergies and appears to have had multiple litters of puppies in the past. It is possible that she was discarded because she was no longer wanted or needed. However, her new shelter family recognizes her preciousness and is eager to help her find a forever home.
While Zipper may appear different from other dogs, her unique grin makes her irresistible. Webb explained: “As an aging dog, she is gentle and calm. Snuggling is her preference over traveling. She enjoys playing with other dogs and has become friends with Mr. Mike, our other senior dog.”
Zipper gets along well with other dogs and is likely to be great with children too. The shelter is unsure about her compatibility with cats, but her sweet and gentle nature suggests she would thrive in various households. Zipper has had a difficult life and now she simply longs for a retirement home with a family that will embrace her just the way she is.
