The valorous marine, Kang, attributes Blue’s existence to numerous circumstances that saved his life during their service in Afghanistan. This extraordinary journey began when Blue was assigned to Kang during his very first deployment. From the onset, it was apparent that Blue possessed exceptional skills in safeguarding the lives of the platoon.
When Kang returned from Afghanistan, he decided to adopt Blue, solidifying their already profound bond. Kang often recounts the tale of their unique partnership, continuously affirming how Blue earned his platoon’s utmost trust and respect.
Kang is eternally grateful to Blue for ensuring his safety throughout their deployments in Afghanistan. He acknowledges the crucial role played by working dogs in the military and urges for their continuous support and care. Presently, Kang serves as a K-9 officer with the Duluth Police Department, accompanied by Blue. At 11 years old, Blue enjoys a tranquil life with Kang, his wife, two children, four dogs, and two cats. Their extraordinary bond serves as evidence of the profound connection shared between humans and their faithful dog companions, transcending all boundaries and overcoming adversity.
As a testament to their remarkable journey, Kang submitted Blue for the prestigious 2020 American Humane Hero Dog Awards.
